We traveled the Globe when our 4 regionals presented the regions. As they spoke we recalled the regional displays we had had at Via Cassia where we ‘met’ our sisters, saw statistics and through conversations learnt of what is happening in the various regions. The photos told many stories and these photos are now here with us in Monte Cucco.
The symbols of each region presented:-
Afrique-Europe Region – a boat with people on board. A symbol of journeying together with Mary within the boat.
The Americas Region – samples of various communications which share the happenings, requests for prayer and Sisters’ stories and thus unite the Sisters with the whole congregation.
Oceania – a five tiered tray held together at the back with a frame in the form of a cross – the 5 countries united as one smsm region. Inside the tray were 2 paua (abalone) shells – one highly polished and the other with its rough shell reminding us that some of us are still in process.
Asia-Pacific – a splendid banner showing Mary, woman of Peace, the dove of peace and a frangipani with each petal bearing the name of a different country in the region - These names in different colours spoke of the diversity and interculturality of the region.
