Summer Remedial Class in Maitum, Philippines

Each year for a number of years now the Sisters of Maitum have been involved in organising a summer remedial class for the children who are not doing well in school. As many children could not read and write, the focus of the Summer class was to help these children to become more literate and thus more able to manage in school. Besides this, another purpose is to provide nutritious food for these children who mostly come from poor T’Boli tribal families living in the mountains. This year the Aspirants of the Marist Brothers helped with the programme. The children enjoyed the food and also the lessons under the trees.
