Training pastoral visitors in Tanzania

SMSM SistersSister Annemarie Woeste trains laity to become pastoral ministers to the sick and homebound in Tanzania. The goal of the programme that she and the team organise is to provide pastoral care and compassionate caring through regular team visits by trained lay people, to the sick and homebound in each parish of the diocese.

The pastoral ministers in their visiting bring hope and comfort, courage to the sick and homebound by helping them to find meaning in their suffering and pain by uniting theirs to the sufferings of Christ. The teams listen, pray, reflect on passages from the Bible with them.

One record shows that in one parish alone, they held seminars of five days each and a total of 368 members were trained.
