Here I am, for you called me. This passage from the first book of Samuel 3:4 was written the on the wall behind the altar of the Church in Montmatre (Vanuatu).
The young people were happy to join in the celebration during which Sr Viviane pronounced her perpetual vows. Several groups of them were involved in the organisation of the Eucharistic celebration: one group sang, another joined in the Procession of the Word and a third took part in the Offertory Procession. The young people were very attentive and they listened with much interest to the questioning of the young professed by the priest. They were moved to hear Sr Viviane reply each time in a confident voice: “Yes, I am willing”. Then she pronounced her vows by which she made her life commitment. When they heard that Sister was sent to the Province of Oceania and that she would be able to continue teaching among them, they all clapped their hands joyfully. Afterwards all were invited to continue this sharing with some refreshments.
During the week the young people had asked Sr Viviane lots of questions. This helped them to prepare themselves for the celebration, to understand better what it means to make perpetual profession and to participate fully in the ceremony.
